Parent-Teacher Conference Week and Drug Prevention Education Program

Parent-Teacher Conferences for parents with students in 6th-9th grade and Kirby’s Drug Prevention Education Program will occur the week of October 7-11, 2019.

To accommodate for these events, Kirby will have a significantly modified schedule and different release times for different grades including 10th-12th grades. The special block schedule and release times are on the Kirby calendar and on this overview document.

Kirby welcomes back Jonathan Scott from the organization Miles to Go who will work with Kirby students during the week to provide a continuum of grade level appropriate drug education curricula. Jonathan is a professional speaker and educator working to enlighten audiences on the subject of substance abuse. As a former stand-up comedian, students find Jonathan’s humor engaging and relatable.

Parents are also invited to attend an informational meeting on Thursday, October 10th, from 7-8:30 p.m.  Jonathan will offer tools to talk with and respond to your child about drugs, discuss current research and science around drugs and the realities of drug use, and share practical tips to help families raise healthy kids.

We highly recommend that a parent attend this meeting.
