This lovely event starts at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 25th in the Great Hall. We ask all eighth graders to arrive no later than 4:15 p.m. The ceremony is fairly short, about seventy-five minutes or less. There will be a reception in the café with light refreshments following the ceremony.
Kirby Head of School, Christy Hutton, notes:
This milestone event is one of my favorites of the year. As part of the ceremony, each student will have a few nice words spoken about them by one of their teachers. Students don’t know ahead of time who will be speaking about them, however the speeches are in order of the program so you can be ready with cameras if you choose.
Guidelines for student attire: casual dressy, i.e. one or two steps up from school funky, but not necessarily jacket and tie, etc. Maybe neat pants and button-down shirt for the boys and dresses or nice skirts/blouses or slacks/blouses for the girls. But if this does not suit your student, the most important thing is that they be comfortable in their expression of self for a special occasion.
