This is a not-to-be-missed event where parents experience their student’s day-to-day schedule, and connect with their teachers. It is an excellent opportunity to gain insight into teaching strategies, policies, and procedures. The focus of the event is to deepen your understanding of your student’s daily experience at Kirby.
As this program mimics a school day and you will follow your student’s schedule from classroom to classroom, we ask that you arrive promptly at 6:30 p.m. to pick up name tags, your student’s class schedule, and a map of the school. We will start in the Great Hall with opening remarks from staff about the evening, then proceed to classrooms.
There will be an optional Athletics Information Session with Abby Christopher (for parents of students who participate in athletics or are curious about the athletics program) from 6:15-6:30pm in Study Hall. This is a good opportunity to ask Abby specific questions about your student’s team, learn more about what sports Kirby offers, and find out how your student can get involved.
This is a parent only event. There is no childcare supervision. If care at home is not an option or if early evening logistics are challenging, students and their siblings are always welcome in the building. The expectation is that they will be engaged in homework on the first floor (quietly and independently) or will assist Laura Lucas with directing “lost” parents around the school.
The schedule is:
6:15-6:30 Athletics Information Session with Abby Christopher in the Study Hall (locate name tags, your student’s schedule and maps prior to heading to Study Hall)
