This milestone event is a ceremony that every 8th grade student remembers. Each rising high schooler enjoys a few minutes in the spotlight as one of their teachers shares a thoughtful anecdote or observation about them aloud.
Students don’t know ahead of time which faculty member will be speaking, creating a delightful sense of anticipation!
The ceremony will begin at 4:30pm in Kirby’s Great Hall. All eighth graders should arrive no later than 4:15pm.
A reception in the Cafe immediately follows the ceremony with snacks and drinks.
If your 8th grade student is unsure what to wear, general guidelines are “casual dressy.” Students tend to wear nice slacks or skirts with button-down shirts or blouses (but not necessarily a jacket and tie). However, the most important thing is that they are comfortable. If students choose to wear heels, please inform them that they will be stepping up risers and walking down narrow platforms so they can be prepared.
